What If You’re Just Feeling…

Lazy and unmotivated!

So far, in 2010, I’ve put on 5 pounds, I haven’t been to the gym once, and I’m feeling kind of lazy and unmotivated. My whole inbox has been flooded with emails about keeping new year’s resolutions, sticking to the plan, and Oprah’s 21 Day Mind Cleanse. I have to tell you ladies, I’m just not there yet. And I’m kinda yuck about it. I wanted to start 2010 off with a bang.

Maybe it’s cuz the party’s almost over. Although we’re technically still on vacation, my hubby’s brain is back to work and he’s now on his Blackberry non-stop. Weather here has been freezing over the past few days and we’ve been running around with the boys trying to keep them occupied. Boys have been at each other’s throats non stop. Little one threw up Sunday night all over himself and the car rental while on our way to a nice dinner for my mother in law’s birthday. There I was, all dressed up, yellow rubber gloves and sponge, scrubbing away with Mr. Clean and Febreze. Hot! I’m in desperate need of a date night with hubby and a little “me” time.  Sometimes too much of a good thing is just that… too much (mirror mirror on the wall, I’ve become my mother after all!). I think it’s time to go back to Montreal to the minus 25 and snow.

Happy Friday!

Friday, December 18th, 2009

Hi Ladies,

Well, I’ve officially been at this Blogging business for three months, and I have to say, I’m absolutely soaking  up every minute. People ask me how I get my inspiration, or find the time, or simply why I like to do it. The truth is, it’s because of you ladies, around the world, wherever you are. My Tokyo readers, my Italian readers, my Russian readers, my Israeli women… the Internet is a powerful and incredible thing. To have friends around the world without leaving the comforts of your own coffee shop, in glasses and sweats, to feel so connected. It’s why I do it.

I have decided to take some time during the next few weeks to spend with my husband and kids, who are off  from work and school and soak up the holiday spirit. It’s time for us to re-group as a family. The kids have colds, my hubby is exhausted, and I am the glue that holds it all together. I will be checking in, but excuse me if my posts are short and/or sporadic and/or wonky. This happens whenever I sit around on my ass and do nothing. I go soft.

How To Connect To A Man, By A Man

By Man On The Fence

He’s back again! Giving us ladies a man’s view on how to connect to the opposite sex. What do you think?

—————————————————————-

One of the reasons I have chosen to blog, particularly on Women On The Fence’s Blog, is because I often feel there is a total disconnect with women. I am not referring to myself here, as I feel sufficiently equipped with the fortitude and depth to relate well enough. In fact, I feel so convinced of my capacity to understand the other sex; I agree with women much of the time! I connect.

For many women throughout their lives, their male influences rarely present them an opportunity to understand the depth and complexity of male issues. I think there is a falsely pre-determined notion in society that leads women to believe certain myths; that men are the providers, that men are less involved in family life, men do the cheating, men are strong and insensitive, and men do not truly connect with their spouses. I am living proof that there is a side to men that most women have chosen to ignore or simply do not make the effort to understand. We connect, you just have to know how.

Getting Yourself Out Of A Funky Rut

Monday, November 23rd, 2009

I’ll never forget how I soaked up, How Stella Got Her Groove Back. I saw the movie with a girlfriend in theaters when it first came out, and for us, it was two hours of bliss. The premise: a gorgeous burned-out forty-something woman reignites her fire by running away to Jamaica and finding a bedmate half her age. Now obviously, this is not what I would suggest for all women in a funk! It’s maybe a little… well… unrealistic. But you have written in ladies. Many of you are running around from work, to meetings, chasing your kids, trying to find the time and energy to reconnect with your husbands, and the daily grind has taken its toll. You’re feeling in a rut. Maybe it’s the November Blues. Maybe you need to change up your routine. Maybe you just need some good sleep. Maybe it’s something a little more serious. I read another blogger’s comment this weekend that was catchy and rings true, “Things have gotten a little funky for me, and the longer it stays, the funkier it gets.”

One of your recent emails to me said, “Lately, I wake up feeling in a rut. I am feeling grumpy and snappy these days. One day just seems to roll into the next, and I’m left wondering, is this all there is?” Wow, pretty deep and dark.
