Wordless Wednesday: Giving Birth to a Book

Wednesday, December 12th, 2012

Sitting in the cafe, workin’ on the dream. Second book.

Shaking and out of of my comfort zone this time.

Stay tuned…

P.S. – The numerology for today’s date, 12.12.12. is said to be a lucky day to start something new. On the topic of starting something new– a new chapter, new beginnings, a new year, I give you my favorite quote:

Wordless Wednesday: WOULD YOU DO THIS?

Wednesday, June 6th, 2012

So, today I’d like to know if you think I need my head examined… if you think I’m Fifty Shades of CRAZY!

This weekend is Grand Prix weekend in Montreal. I gotta say, it’s one of my favorite weekends. The city ignites with action, celebs, hot nights, and fun. A few weeks ago, my husband received two tickets for this Saturday night, to a “special and extravagant” evening. Yes, it’s about $1500 to eat dinner a few hundred feet off the ground, and it’s called “DINNER IN THE SKY.” Shit, I’m woozy just writing it.

So as it stands now, we are supposed to have dinner this Saturday night suspended in the air, overlooking the beautiful city. Check out these photos.

Hot Summer Fashion Tips

Getting off the fence is all about making decisions, taking action and committing to your decisions in life.  I was on the fence not one year ago, when I knew I loved and had an eye for fashion (I studied Fashion Design at FIT and Parsons), had a real knack for writing (I had seen the magazine world at work with a stint at W Magazine), but wasn’t quite sure how to marry these two talents.

Then a light bulb went off… I could find a way to make these two worlds of mine collide. All my years of experience could come together online, more specifically, in a style blog. I knew that if I just took action and committed to my passion, something good would come of it. And I can tell you, it has.

I have since become a stylist, a social media consultant, a fashion feature writer for Maxim Canada, and the official style blogger for LG Fashion Week, Beauty by L’Oreal Paris (the second largest fashion week in North America!)  I get to share my views on fashion with the world.  So, in effect, my own getting off the fence about writing about style, in turn helps other ladies off the fence about style… talk about a gratifying cycle.

Trading Prada for Peace

I was an advertising executive in the television industry for 12 years before I jumped off the fence.  I am an only child, raised by an Asian mother who had her own successful career in the medical field, and a German-American father with a successful career in the aerospace industry. I was raised to excel in my studies and obtain the high-paying executive job and title.  I was on my way.

I was fortunate to have found my soul mate and husband in my late 20′s, and we both decided to wait a few years before starting our family.  My first daughter came along shortly after my promotion into a management position.  Having the financial resources, we had a full-time nanny, which allowed me to continue my career.  My job required much time, travel, and intellectual/emotional effort.  Being in the entertainment industry, I got to meet and work with famous television and movie stars.  In addition to attending awards shows, movie premieres, and launch parties, my husband and I got to attend exciting events such as the Olympics and the Super Bowl.

When Mommy’s A Mess

Thursday, October 7th, 2010

Do you ever feel, that as the centrifugal force of the house, that mommy’s mood sets the tone for the the whole family? This Blog post came to me a couple of weeks ago, when my girlfriend said, “Can you Blog about how when we are not good, the rest of our family never feels good? And how we can pull ourselves out of these slumps?”

So really, what happens if mom’s not happy?

Now, if you have a family of 4 plus people, chances are there are constantly multiple things going on at once… different opinions, different ideas and different hormones levels too!  And chances are again, these many factors vary throughout your week. For example, sometimes my household is happy, and we’re grooving to Kool & The Gang and (shhhh) Justin Bieber in the kitchen, and other times mommy’s ranting about unfinished homework, laziness around helping out, too much Wii and television, or disrespectful words.  Sometimes we’re laughing, sometimes we’re tense. But one thing I know for sure… when I’m on edge, EVERYONE IS ON EDGE.

And see, this is where I sit on the fence… am I to fake it, and fake happiness when I’m tired or stressed for the sake of peace and harmony, or should I be my honest self, my true self, show my kids that life isn’t always flowery, and bring everyone down with me? Cuz really, I would LOVE your opinion on this issue. My ass in on the fence. I always wrestle between protecting them, and giving them the truth. My heart says truth, but with a grain of salt, yes?

Hello World… I Finally did it!!

Friday, September 11th, 2009

Hi to all my Women out there! I am Erica Diamond. I am 34.  I am Wife.  I am a Mother of 2 young boys. I am an Award Winning Entrepreneur and Businesswoman. I am a Reality TV Show Writer. I am a Hockey Mom. I am a serial Volunteer. I am a Woman On The Fence.

This blog was created for all of us women who are on the fence… In Life. In Business. In Love. In anything. Period.

We are bright. We are dynamic. We are educated. We are perfectionists. We are tired. We love our husbands. We hate our husbands. We love our kids. Our kids annoy us. We want to work. We can’t juggle it all. We expect two dozen roses on our anniversary. We give. We get. We’re happy. We’re discouraged. We’re intuitive. We’re funny.

We’re women. Black. White. Asian. Hispanic. Through it all, we stick together.

Therefore my ladies,  my goal of this Blog is to unite all women. To let you all vent your frustrations about living life on the fence. It’s time to make a move. It’s time to GET OFF THE FENCE! It’s time to make up or break up. It’s time to quit your job. It’s time to enroll in medical school. It’s time to come out of the closet. It’s time to speak your truth. It’s time to start LIVING YOUR LIFE!
