“Jodie Foster Was Here” – And Why That Matters

Monday, January 14th, 2013

Talk about ON THE FENCE. That was the theme in all the social media channels last night during the Golden Globes- “I’m on the fence about whether Jodie Foster’s acceptance speech was epic and brilliant, or a complete nonsensical mess.”

I too watched alongside millions of people, as Jodie Foster took the stage to accept the Cecille B. DeMille Lifetime Achievement Award. Jodie remains one of my favorite actresses since portraying rape victim Sarah Tobias in The Accused. Her performance in that film is stunning, and I have followed her career ever since. But there was something so RAW, so REAL, about her acceptance speech last night.

When I watched it live, I didn’t quite understand what was going on at first. In fact, I tweeted this, and many of you agreed with me.

As a Huffington Post contributor and an entrepreneur myself since the age of 24, it never grows tired when I have the opportunity to meet incredible visionaries and pioneers who have mastered their craft. It’s what turns me on. I’m still juiced.

I give you, the brains behind The Huffington Post, Arianna Huffington, et moi a Montreal. ;)

What Every Woman Should Have…

Wednesday, February 8th, 2012

I have to thank my good girlfriend Allison who forwarded this to me. It is said to have been written by Maya Angelou. She has denied the claim.

I love sharing good wisdom every few Wednesdays. I think this is powerful.

A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE…

A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE ….
enough money within her control to move out
and rent a place of her own even if she never wants
to or needs to…

Getting Over Getting Older

Thursday, October 14th, 2010

By Guest Blogger Helene Oseen

Most of the time I like being fifty-something, but this aging stuff is complex. Inside I still feel like I’m in my thirties, but then I realize that’s the age of my children. One day recently I caught a glimpse of my hands and became aware of the fact that they look like my mother’s. I’m trying to make peace with the lines around my eyes and brackets around my mouth, justifying them with the fact that I laugh a lot, but saggy skin on my hands – yikes – I’m old.

Although it’s easier said than done, there is no point in having angst about aging. Two undeniable truths are: everyone ages and aging sucks.
