F*ck Cancer: Life Lessons From My Mother

Friday, April 12th, 2013

By Guest Blogger Julie Greenbaum

It’s funny what you remember from your childhood. Our earliest memories of events, interactions and people can stay with us and resonate for the rest of our lives.

It’s also cool how at the moment of conception, thousands of generations that preceded us, come together at that magical moment, and give us all the qualities and challenges we will have as individuals– our strengths, our weaknesses and perhaps even more importantly, our temperament.

There are those, even as infants, who will go willingly to anyone that wants to hold them. These babies have no fear of the unknown or strangers, and they willingly use every day as an excuse to explore the world.

Leaning In

Wednesday, March 13th, 2013

Hello and Happy Hump Day!

Chances are, if you are a working woman, or have even turned on the news in the past few days, you’ve probably come across Sheryl Sandberg, COO and second in command at Facebook. She recently wrote a book called Lean In, and there has been a lot of controversy around her book.

Yesterday, when Arianna Huffington asked me to contribute my voice to the Huffington Post Women’s community, I was happy to oblige. I have a STRONG opinion in this arena. Already a HuffPo contributor, this was a chance for me to either join the haters and skeptics, or Lean In, and agree with Sheryl Sandberg.

Arianna Huffington, Bobbi Brown and Grace Potter Invite You to Snack & Give Back this Holiday Season

Thursday, December 13th, 2012

If you read this blog, you know how health conscious I am both for myself, and my kids. When my long distance friend Arianna Huffington showed me what she’s up to this holiday season, I wanted to help her spread the word for a good cause.

Arianna’s new campaign is empowering people to give back through healthy snacking.

KIND Healthy Snacks (KIND), a brand of delicious, all natural foods made from ingredients you can see & pronounce®, is encouraging people everywhere to Snack & Give Back this holiday season in partnership with health-loving, do-gooders and notable tastemakers, Arianna Huffington (Huffington Post), Bobbi Brown (Bobbi Brown Cosmetics) and Grace Potter (Grace Potter and the Nocturnals).

Through KIND’s first ever Snack & Give Back campaign, people are invited to purchase Arianna, Bobbi and Grace’s limited edition, custom designed and personally-curated KIND cubes on www.SnackandGiveBack.co. By purchasing these cubes, people can show their support for the Committee to Protect Journalists, Broome Street Academy and the Alzheimer’s Association— charities of personal importance to Arianna, Bobbi and Grace respectively. As part of the campaign, KIND is making a $10,000 donation to each charity. (more…)

Thursday, September 13th, 2012

Fall is almost upon us, and whether you’re a working girl or stay-at-home mom, here are some fall fashion trends that you might like to sport. These trends have just come out of New York Fashion Week. My daily fashion consist of sweats, tees and glasses if I’m working from home, but when I am out of the house working, some of these trends are fun.

1. The Pairing of Black and Blue. Yes, the once faux-pas pairing of black and blue is now in style!

2. Burgundy. Burgundy is the “new black” this fall.

Erica Diamond Interviews Huffington Post Founder Arianna Huffington

Monday, May 28th, 2012

I am still on a high from meeting a true pioneer and leader in her field, Arianna Huffington, founder of The Huffington Post.  This woman is the real deal. When you talk to her, you can FEEL her energy. She gives you direct eye contact (which I love), a firm handshake, and lets you know she HEARS you. Arianna is open, and oozes creativity… it is palpable.

If you are not familiar with Arianna Huffington, she is the creator and founder of the popular blog The Huffington Post, which she sold to AOL in 2011 for $315 million. She was then named president and Editor-In-Chief of The Huffington Post Media Group, which included The Huffington Post and then-existing AOL properties such as Engadget, AOL Music, Patch Media, and StyleList. Arianna Huffington was named #12 on the Forbes list of the ‘Most Influential Women In Media.’ (Wikipedia)

Wordless Wednesday: What is SOPA Blackout?

Wednesday, January 18th, 2012

What is this black Wordless image, you might ask?

Well, it’s a representation of many who are shutting down their sites today. Going black.

This blackout started at 12:00 a.m. eastern time on Wednesday morning and will last until 12:00 a.m. eastern time on Thursday. Database giant Wikipedia went dark as a protest against proposed anti-piracy legislation in the United States called SOPA (Stop Online Piracy Act).

In fact, if you go to Wikipedia.org right now and attempt to do a search, this is what you’ll find. Crazy wild.
