Friday, May 3rd, 2013

By Guest Blogger Erin Schwartz

If you love your job, then you’re never really working, right? As much as we’d like to believe that, even the most rewarding of professions can start to be a drag when we’re pushing beyond 50, 60, or 70 hours each week.

We’re a nation of workaholics, and it’s that collective drive to succeed that’s helped lead the U.S. to prominence in the world market. As a nation, we’ve increased our productivity levels by 400 percent since 1950.

On an individual level, however, many people take their career motivations too far. Overall, priorities should be balanced between work, family and fulfillment, from hobbies to travel to volunteer opportunities.

Why Being A Morning Person Could Be The Secret To Your Success

Friday, June 29th, 2012

When your alarm goes off in the morning, do you snooze or do you wake immediately? Or perhaps a more appropriate question… HOW MANY TIMES do you hit the snooze button?  Truth.

New research has been released which will make my friends (hopefully) stop making fun of me. My whole life, I have been an early bird. Doesn’t the early bird get the worm? Lol! But, I have always been an early bird, even as a teenager- I wake early, I eat lunch early (11:30am), dinner early (5:30pm), and I go to bed early (9:45pm), pretty much all the time. But, it appears this lifestyle might be contributing to my health, wellbeing and happiness. As research has it, I do what it takes to be successful. So, what’s the big secret? According to this new research, early risers aren’t just nicer to be around in the morning, they’re also happier, healthier, more self-satisfied, even experience more career success than the rest of the population. (Forbes Magazine)

Studies are showing that you hold the key to your success– starting your day in the early morning. While most people are snoozing or still sleeping, research says that success has much to do with being a morning person. I know, shocking right?! (Actually, I’m not shocked. As a Women’s Success Coach, I know this, but perhaps you didn’t).

The Cold Hard Truth

Monday, November 14th, 2011

By Guest Blogger Bianca Osbourne

Low self-esteem seems to plague the female existence. We are faced with the insurmountable task of being beautiful, successful, sexy and powerful, all while making it look easy. Low self-esteem has been my Achilles heel since I was very young. Growing up, I was chunky with spotted skin, so I worked diligently toward being the class clown. Having my classmates laugh WITH me before they could laugh AT me was an art form I perfected.

Fortunately, time was good to me and I blossomed as I grew up. The baby fat melted away and my skin cleared. All of a sudden, I saw a beautiful woman staring back at me in the mirror. Good looking men approached me from all angles, wanting to be my mate. I was shocked, but reveled in the attention that I had craved as a teenager. Then I met the man whom I thought I would be with forever; he was perfect, he loved me, and I loved him for that. But my old feelings of inadequacy crept in as the relationship grew, and those feelings slowly sabotaged this wonderful relationship, the relationship I wanted so badly; but believed I didn’t deserve.

12 Tips On Aging… Not On Fast Forward

Monday, May 10th, 2010

Happy Monday, Ladies! I hope you all enjoyed your Mother’s Day. I had a wonderful weekend with my family. Yes, I even DANCED Saturday night! If you’re a follower of this Blog, you may recall I wrote a post on aging gracefully. I pointed out the simple fact, that no matter how rich, how poor, how thin, how happy, how unhappy you are, there is one thing in this world you cannot fight, and just happen to be battling at the EXACT same rate as the next person… AGING. Madonna is over 50. Yes, Even Madonna turned 50! Enough said. But in that Blog post, I talked about my desire to age without any help from Dr. 90210. I wrote about how to age “gracefully.” But, today, we’re taking it one step further.  Today, we’re talking how to put that aging process on slow-mo. And I’m not on the fence here. I just turned 35 and because I don’t intend on going the plastic route, I’m gonna fight the shit out of this aging process.

slowing down aging process

Now, this morning didn’t quite help the whole aging thing. In fact, this morning just helped speed up the process instead of slow it down. I was all ready for the gym and on my way to carpool, when I got a frantic call from my husband to get to the gas station immediately, buy a jerry can of gas, and bring it to “Lemieux” street, as his car had conked out… on the way to the gas station. Naturally, this threw off my whole morning, completely frazzled me, and made me come up with yet another excuse to skip the gym. So I did, and I’m in still in Lululemon workout clothes and haven’t yet broken a sweat today. I’m sitting idle, sipping lattes at Starbucks, not fighting any aging process at all. :)
