Arianna Huffington, Bobbi Brown and Grace Potter Invite You to Snack & Give Back this Holiday Season

Thursday, December 13th, 2012

If you read this blog, you know how health conscious I am both for myself, and my kids. When my long distance friend Arianna Huffington showed me what she’s up to this holiday season, I wanted to help her spread the word for a good cause.

Arianna’s new campaign is empowering people to give back through healthy snacking.

KIND Healthy Snacks (KIND), a brand of delicious, all natural foods made from ingredients you can see & pronounce®, is encouraging people everywhere to Snack & Give Back this holiday season in partnership with health-loving, do-gooders and notable tastemakers, Arianna Huffington (Huffington Post), Bobbi Brown (Bobbi Brown Cosmetics) and Grace Potter (Grace Potter and the Nocturnals).

Through KIND’s first ever Snack & Give Back campaign, people are invited to purchase Arianna, Bobbi and Grace’s limited edition, custom designed and personally-curated KIND cubes on www.SnackandGiveBack.co. By purchasing these cubes, people can show their support for the Committee to Protect Journalists, Broome Street Academy and the Alzheimer’s Association— charities of personal importance to Arianna, Bobbi and Grace respectively. As part of the campaign, KIND is making a $10,000 donation to each charity. (more…)

A “Fresh” Summer Approach To Organizing Your Fridge

Tuesday, June 19th, 2012

By Guest Blogger Kelly Anne Erdman M.Sc, R.D.

I’m a sport dietitian and cycling Olympian with the Canadian Sport Centre in Calgary, where I consult several national teams. I’m also the Performance Dietitian for the Canadian Olympic Committee and Team Canada at the upcoming 2012 London Summer Olympic Games. I will be their main support during the games when it comes to food selection and dietary needs. I love what I do – helping athletes to achieve their personal best success (and hopefully that means medals), is tremendously fulfilling!

Aside from being a sport dietitian, I’ve got another important job– I’m a mother to two highly active kids who are into competitive hockey and track and field, respectively – so I like to practice what I preach at home and in the office.

25 Healthy Snacks For Kids

Friday, November 5th, 2010

Everyday in the Diamond household, there are two kids’ lunches to prepare: A main meal, 3 snacks, water and juice (the juice only goes to my older one). I have noticed a steady decline lately in the quality of snacks in their lunches (obviously my fault, despite being a very healthy household), and it’s driving me bananas! My 3 year old loves foods like salmon, quiche and all things healthy. He’s quite a pleasure to feed. My big son is a little “trickier,” shall we say. Mealtime has been a huge problem for us, actually. If I’m serving salmon to the family, and my 7 year old refuses to eat it, and therefore I’m making him a grilled cheese, all of a sudden, my 3 year old hates salmon. And then I’m screwed! All healthy goes out the window. And lord knows, I ain’t no Martha Stewart.

So, what’s gone on here during mealtime, has also gone on with school lunches and more specifically their snacks. My little one will take yogourt, cheese, and other healthy snacks to school. My big one doesn’t like yogourt or cheese. And so the daily battle begins when we’re preparing school lunches. The kids go to the pantry to choose their snacks, and there begins the kvetch-a-thon and battle. Me pushing the healthy, them asking for things that their friends bring to school, that I will not buy.
