What You Can Learn About Life Through Business

Tuesday, May 17th, 2011

If you’ve been following my Twitter stream or Facebook fan page over the past few days, you know that I was in Boston over the weekend. I was thrilled when Tory Johnson, workplace correspondent on Good Morning America asked me to come and speak to the female entrepreneurs of Boston, at The Spark and Hustle Tour. My husband also had business in Boston, so we decided to leave the boys for a quick trip, and mix business with pleasure.

Spark and Hustle, you may ask? In a nutshell… you bring the SPARK, and I teach you how to HUSTLE. Catchy right? Years ago, Tory experienced something unfortunately too many working women face today. Check out Tory recently on CBS’s The Talk, and see how she turned disappointment into triumph. Tory’s energy is INFECTIOUS.

Charlie Sheen: My Side

Tuesday, March 1st, 2011

Alright, I’m doing something today I rarely do… give my side on tabloid gossip. A lot of you asked my opinion on Charlie Sheen’s recent antics. I watched pretty much all of it yesterday… The Today Show, Good Morning America, and The Piers Morgan interview last night. And here is where I differ with 90% of all of you out there. In my Facebook feed, I read things like, “Pompous, asshole, nutcase, arrogant, putz.” And see, I didn’t get that feeling AT ALL. You just had to watch his eyes. This man is obviously sick. Clearly ill. While I’m no Dr. Drew, I’m merely a psychology major and intuitive woman, and I know this may be a bold thing to say, but I have mental illness in my family, and it looked a lot like that.

So, to answer your questions, I see everyone’s side. I see CBS’s side getting fed up with him and teaching him a lesson by cancelling the rest of the season, but then you can’t deny his power to command ratings and pull the show. So, he definitely has a point that they probably need him more than he needs them. But this is really of no relevance to me– a case of “he said, she said” is just gossip and a waste of time.

INTERVIEW: One-On-One with Mackenzie Phillips

Thursday, February 24th, 2011

If there are  two people in this world I would love to sit down with over a great cup of coffee, or a big bowl of pasta and a glass of Cabernet, I am sure you could guess who it would be. Hello Bucket List!!! — Oprah and Ellen of course. No big surprise there. But there has been a story I have been chasing for over a  year. Why? Because she fascinates me. She always fascinated me. Her life story. Her father–  singer of one of my favorite music bands OF ALL TIME. She– a childhood star, who seemed to have it all, and then somehow fell off the right path along the way.

This is my candid interview with Mackenzie Phillips – actress, musician, mother, bestselling author, recovering addict, incest survivor, animal lover, and all around, kind human being. We could have talked for hours– two honest women, just trying to do the best we can in this world.
