Welcome to the home stretch of 2012. Another year down- CAN YOU BELIEVE? This year was, without a doubt, an interesting year. As has become somewhat of a yearly tradition on WomenOnTheFence.com, for the new and old readers, I recap our year.
It was a year filled with many highs, many frustrations, many triumphs, and many tears.
Let me explain – from January right through to December…
While preparing for Halloween tonight, I came across this picture from Halloween 2004. My son’s 1st Halloween – he went as a race car driver. Here he is with his daddy. Wow, how time flies.
Happy Halloween and enjoy your excuse to eat chocolate and candy. I know today marks the beginning of my 5 pound weight gain. It lasts as long my sons’ candy lasts– and that’s usually a long time. They’re pretty enthusiastic about going from HOUSE TO HOUSE TO HOUSE TO HOUSE.
I’m back! And I’ve missed you ladies like crazy! I hope that during the past three weeks, you have kept yourself busy and enjoyed the warm weather a little. Our summer is flying by too quickly, the fact that we’re already into August, makes me weepy.
During my three-week blogging break, I had a chance to relax, unWINE unwind and rest my brain, so that I can continue to add value to the blogging community. It is no easy feat to manage an engaged audience as smart as YOU, and continuously provide fresh captivating content. In order to do so, this mama needs to engage in stimulating activities, such as reading Fifty Shades Of Grey War and Peace.
So… I relaxed by the lake.
So, today I decided to step away from the computer, and to your local YouTube channel. It was time. Today, I’m in a bun, glasses, no makeup, and sipping coffee with you on my deck… a.k.a my summer office.
I asked you on Twitter what you wanted to chat about in today’s vlog, and it seems many of you want to discuss Fifty Shades of Grey, and who Universal should cast as the leading man, Christian Grey. This week, it was speculated that the top two contenders for the role are Ryan Gosling (The Notebook) and Ian Somerhalder (Vampire Diaries).

I am checking in from a day off! Hi Ladies! Today is St. Jean Baptiste- a statutory holiday, but only in Quebec. June 24th (St. Jean Baptiste) and July 1st (Canada Day) are the two days I look forward to the most every year. Why? Because they are not date nights… they are date DAYS! The kids go off to camp, and hubby is home from work. It’s the only time the kids aren’t around, and we get to enjoy a day off, alone, just with each other.
So, today is our Fifty Shades of Grey date day. 
We planned on going to a hotel downtown for the afternoon to sit by the pool with some cocktails. But, it’s raining, so who knows… Any suggestions?

Alright, if you haven’t yet heard about the book Fifty Shades of Grey, you just might be in the minority. Fifty Shades of Grey is a new book to not yet hit bookstores. And you can only buy this erotic novel, frequently described at “mommy porn,” if you own an iPad, Kindle, Kobo, Nook, e-reader. The hard copy is coming out in April.
Ladies, this book is hot. REALLY hot. And I’m not embarrassed to say that I put down an incredible memoir to be taken away by Fifty Shades of Grey. Hell, I don’t even read fiction, but I had to see what all the hype was about. Well, I had NO idea what I was in for. I am halfway through, and I’m HOOKED. Smitten. I find myself sneaking moments to read whenever I can– hockey practice, carpool lineup. The buzz is everywhere. Conversation flowing amongst all the yummy mummies I meet. Women telling me their whole bodies “tingle” when they read this book. Or that they just wanna go home and f— their husbands. We discussed it at my girl’s dinner this week and we talked about it while I served hot lunch at school yesterday. But I will tell you, I have rediscovered my husband again because of this book. I kid you not. It has done wonders to our marriage. Let’s just say, my husband has never been so thrilled to see me reading.
I don’t do book reviews on this site. It’s not the feel around here. But I will give you a little background. The protagonist is 27 year-old, sexy, uber-controlled, self-made billionaire, Christian Grey, who also also happens to have a major fetish for domination and S&M behind closed doors. The other main character is 22 year-old college girl, innocent, virginal, submissive, Anastasia Steele, who gets swept off her feet and into the bedroom in sexcapades that are beyond smoking.
