5 Must-Have Foods In Your 2010 Diet

Thursday, January 7th, 2010

I’m baaaack!  Since the last time I checked in, I had sex AND went back to the gym.  Well, it was about time for both! I’m still sleep deprived, and my kids are still killing each other, but hey, things could be a lot worse! Gratitude I say.

So, because I feel a little better after my run outside this morning in the freezing 35 degree Miami weather, I wanted to pass on 5 must-have foods for your diet this year. I think you know me by now, that with all my shtick, I’m still a pretty positive person. So, I’m off the somber and onto the positive. Ok ladies, it’s 2010!!!  A brand new year! A brand new chance to get it right.

new year's resolutions

If eating healthy was one of your resolutions, then listen up! Experts say there are a few foods that you can add to your diet that will improve your health and help keep away viruses and illnesses. It’s Almost 2010 – What’s Your Game Plan?

Monday, December 14th, 2009

It’s that time of year again! How quickly it came. You know, the time of year when people start thinking about making resolutions, life improvements, and figuring out their game plan for next year.

Often people make resolutions to head back to the gym. I love gyms in January! They’re completely packed. You can’t get a bloody machine if you tried. All the resolutioners are pounding the pavement… hard… literally… for like five minutes. Then, by January 20th, the crowds calm down to normal levels and those people return back to their old habits.

Some people vow to spend more quality time with family members. Others vow to see their friends more often. Or to quit smoking. Or to be kinder or more patient. Or to save more money.

Beating the November Blues

Tuesday, November 10th, 2009

It gets dark at 4:30PM, it’s dreary, it’s windy, it’s darn right depressing. In fact, on most days in November, curling into bed at 3PM for a nap just feels like the natural thing to do. Hibernation, I think it’s called! November just ain’t one of my favorite months. I’d take peaceful white snow over the somber November days any day. I must say however, on a positive note, we are having our Indian summer now in Montreal, so I am not speaking about these past few days, but rather of November in general. Do you know that November continuously sees the highest rate of suicide out of all the months of the year? Fall also sees increased cases of Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) and others, which come out to show their ugly faces.

So, how can we beat the November blues?

Eating Healthy With A Busy Schedule

Saturday, October 17th, 2009

So we’re all busy right? Running to and from places. To Starbucks, to the office, to visit an elderly grandparent, to the gym, to an extra-curricular activity, a meeting. Running running running. And yet, I always roll my eyes at those skinny girls who say, “I just don’t have time to eat!” Yah, WHATEVER! Rome could be burning, and there I am, chompin’ away. In fact, I can count on one hand the number of meals I’ve missed in my ENTIRE lifetime. If you ask my husband, he’ll attest to it! No joke. I NEVER miss a meal.

So, how do you do it? With all the running and juggling, how do you make time for good healthy meals, and avoid skipping? Believe me, I’m just as busy as the next person, but I always make time to eat. I’m not saying I haven’t eaten a salad in my car on my way to a meeting, but I make food a priority, as funny as it sounds. For women juggling it all, food is in fact paramount to your success. And good food, may I add.
