Sleepless in Seattle

Monday, April 22nd, 2013

Hello Girls!

Seeing that I missed Wordless Wednesday (our site was down), I would love to blog where I have been this week, in PICTURE.

It all started Sunday morning. I kissed my three men goodbye at 5am and headed to the airport. I was going to Seattle Grey Mercy West. No, I wasn’t. I’ve just always wanted to say that (I’m a big Grey’s Anatomy fan) ;)

Microsoft Campus

But for real, I WAS flying to Seattle. Where the first-ever Starbucks resides (which is so quaint and unassuming, by the way). And where the mother ship that is Microsoft lives. I went to spend a few days at the Microsoft campus, where Bill Gates and other uber-brilliant techies are changing the world we live in for the better. After being a Brand Ambassador for Microsoft Office for over three years, I went to see where the magic happens.

And magical it is.

Wednesday, May 23rd, 2012

Yes, today I got to meet and interview someone on my short list of “People I’d Like To Have Dinner With” Arianna Huffington, founder of The Huffington Post (others on my list include… Oprah Winfrey, Martha StewartMaya Angelou, Phil Knight, Richard Branson, Anthony Robbins, BIll Gates, Steven Spielberg, Madonna). As a Huffington Post contributor and an entrepreneur myself since the age of 24, it never grows tired when I have the opportunity to meet incredible visionaries and pioneers who have mastered their craft. It’s what turns me on. I’m still juiced.

I give you, the brains behind The Huffington Post, Arianna Huffington, et moi a Montreal. ;)

Back To School with Khan Academy: The Power of Learning

Tuesday, August 16th, 2011

With back to school upon us (for some), or around the corner (for others), today is about sharing information with parents and students. Or not…

Frankly, today is about sharing information with all mankind. This is the most powerful thing I have seen in a long time, and needed to share it with my readers. My girlfriend Corine told me I could use her name, as it is her who turned me onto Khan Academy.

Watch.

How Do You Measure Success?

Friday, September 3rd, 2010

Ok, today we’re laying the cards out on the table. We’re getting honest today about our perception of money and how we measure success. A week ago, I was with someone, and a contemporary of ours drove by in a fancy new sports car. The person I was with said, “Huh look… he made a lot of money and immediately bought the shiny new sports car.” I sensed a tinge of jealousy in that person’s voice. Like instead of sharing in their success and appreciating their talent, this person was envious.

how do you measure success

So… here is the fence question today: If someone works hard, and “makes it,” as some would label it, should they not be allowed to enjoy the fruits of their labor? Is it considered showy if they enjoy fast boats, or fancy cars or big houses? And, do we perceive people with money differently if they are trust fund babies like Paris Hilton, who show up in a pink Bentley convertible (we imagine she has all this because her last name is Hilton)? Or when a self-made humble billionaire like Bill Gates shows up in a fancy car… does it evoke less strong of a reaction because he is humble, self made and un-showy?
