Yoga, Life Coaching and My Debut on The Today Show

Sit back, relax and grab a cup green tea… it’s Transformation Tuesday!

I am still feeling very fortunate that both my worlds of life coaching and yoga collided this past Friday on The Today Show with Megan Kelly. My mandate? To teach Megan, her audience, and America, yoga poses specifically for stress management and a more zen you. Taught from the place of a modern yoga teacher AND life coach showing you different poses you can flow through and breathe through to a calmer you… I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Megan and her team were delightful, and our audience was totally game when I challenged them to TREE POSE!

The Accidental Rebrand

I am excited to reveal today… the new, improved and rebranded WomenOnTheFence.com, Real Inspiration for the Modern Woman.

You see, we weren’t planning or rebranding or facelifting any time soon. But our site went down two weeks ago, and when the backup reinstalled was totally corrupt, we had no choice but to start from scratch.

I panicked.

It was touch and go for five long days. Did we actually lose eight years of blog posts, comments, pages, blood, sweat and tears?

I Believe You. I Stand By You.

Today’s post was going to be something else. After all, I just experienced a career milestone this past Friday— appearing on The Today Show. And I will come back to that this week. It’s sitting in our ‘drafts’ folder on the backend of this blog.

But for today, running a women’s empowerment blog, I couldn’t ignore it. I couldn’t not support it. I couldn’t not address it.

You’ve probably seen in by now.

Men Are From Mars, Women Are From Venus

So, this came up in my Facebook memories yesterday. My second blog post ever. Feeling all sentimental this week since it was our 8th blogiversary on Monday, so I thought I’d do a little #ThrowbackThursday in honor of anniversary week.

Wow, how times have changed (like the weight gain since this post), and yet still remain the same!

Enjoy blog post #2 – exactly eight years later.

Reflections on 8 Years of Blogging

Today we celebrate the 8th anniversary of a blog that was born out of feeling stuck, on the fence, alone, confused, and wanting to create a space for women to get inspired, get off the fence, grow, succeed and thrive. You have made that happen. I am grateful for this community who has stood by me in my darkest hours, my greatest triumphs, and given me a safe place to be authentic myself. You have also helped each other, and inspired each other into action. Never underestimate the power of a few simple words on a page.

This year I am celebrating our Blogiversary by flying to Toronto to attend an evening of women’s empowerment for WIFT (Women In Film and Television), and you can follow that journey on my social media channels.

The Future of Business is Female

Workforce analysts predict that by 2018, more than half of American small businesses will be run by women.

Just let that soak in for a moment…

Every March, Women’s History Month celebrates the storied accomplishments of women in American history. Successful women have played a vital role in shaping the course of life in America and around the world, and that role is only growing with time.

And the numbers speak for themselves.

When You Can’t Quit: Making the Best of a Difficult Situation at Work

“I’ve found another position, and will be leaving at the end of the month.”

Do you dream of saying that to your boss, but can’t?

Life makes us put major changes on hold sometimes.  For one reason or another, you may have to stay on the fence between a job you hate, and finding something new.

While you’re biding your time, waiting for the opportunity to escape from the soul crushing grind, you could just drift through your days, putting in the bare minimum. Or instead, you could make a conscious decision to do something for yourself, and get whatever good you can out of your current position.

Aging, Body Shaming and What That Means for Us All

Age is an issue of mind over matter. If you don’t mind, it doesn’t matter.
— Mark Twain

If there’s one thing that no one in this world is exempt from, no matter how rich, how poor, how thin, how nice, how evil, how generous, WHATEVER… it’s AGING. Yes, we are all aging. And we are all fighting it at the exact same rate as the next person. Some will age better, some will age worse, but it’s a process we all must face, whether we like it or not.
