Sometimes I Just Wanna Dance…

Tuesday, May 4th, 2010

Have you ever looked at your life, your daily routine, your kids, your job, and thought… I just wanna throw on a pair of heels, and dance the night away? I confess, I have.

sometimes i just wanna dance

I was just reminiscing with a girlfriend the other day. We used to live in the same apartment building when we were both first married… us on the 5th floor, her on the 4th. And boy was it fun! We all worked hard during the week and partied on the weekends. We slept in till ungodly hours with no distractions.  We hung out smoking in each other’s apartments, watching movies, chilling with friends. It was the life… except… we didn’t appreciate it! We desperately wanted to get pregnant and settle in, trading late night partying for late night bottle feedings.

And so we did. And it has been unbelievable every step of the way. I wouldn’t trade it for anything.

Complaining: “Would You Like Some Cheese With That Whine?”

Attention All Complainers: Listen Up!

stop complaining

I knew someone, actually someone I used to work with, who complained about EVERYTHING! Frikkin’ everything! About the unfairness of her being given the worst clients, to having the worst behaved child in the world, to having the most unsupportive husband, and the list went on an on. I can complain with the best of ‘em, but I’m telling you, I was Miss Susie Sunshine next to this woman. The truth is, no one likes to be around a complainer, except well, maybe, other complainers.

Now, we all complain. Hell, it’s normal! But I would like to ask you a question now, if I may… HOW OFTEN DO YOU COMPLAIN? If you don’t know the answer, ask those around you to shed some light. How about your husband, your friends, your co-workers. I’m sure they’ll have a wealth of knowledge to share with you. And I’m sure once you ask, they won’t hold back!

A Man’s View About Sex

Tuesday, March 16th, 2010

Our Man On The Fence has chosen his topic, and is here to talk to us from a male perspective.

Here he is, our very own Guest Blogger, Man On The Fence.

Far too often, a man’s need for sex is not met. By this I mean, most married men, or men who are dating will willingly tell you, they’re not getting enough sex. Either their wife or girlfriend is too tired, has her period or simply doesn’t need sex as often as we males do. For the average man, sex is more of a physiological and basic need than a pure drive for sex.

sex

The physical need to release is apparent in so many ways. Sex for a man releases tension, allows him to rid himself of pent-up stimulants that are aching to be gone out of his body. When a man can “get off,” the charged muscles in his whole body empty out and get ready to accept refilling, waiting in anticipation for the next time. It is easy to assume your partner only wants you for sex, but in fact it is a remedy necessary to allow for free and clear thinking. No joke.

10 Tips To Spring Clean Your Body

Thursday, March 11th, 2010

Spring is definitely coming. Everyone was up early in our house this morning, because of the brighter early am’s. The bad thing… less sleep. The good thing… me not ranting like a fish-wife for everyone to get out of bed and not be late for school. Me and rushing don’t do well together. At all. Last week, I blogged about Spring Cleaning your house and your life. Today I want to talk about spring cleaning your body. I think we often take our bodies for granted. Sometimes our bodies can take the abuse, but sometimes, as in the case of Corey Haim, our bodies just cannot. It’s very sad and tragic. So how can you be good to your body, so that it will be good to you?

On Aging– Hopefully Gracefully

Wednesday, February 17th, 2010

Age is an issue of mind over matter. If you don’t mind, it doesn’t matter.
– Mark Twain

If there’s one thing that no one in this world is exempt from, no matter how rich, how poor, how thin, how nice, how evil, how generous, WHATEVER… it’s AGING. Yes, we are all aging. And we are all fighting it at the exact same rate as the next person. Some will age better, some will age worse, but it’s a process we all must face whether we like it or not.

seuss-aging

2010 is a big year for me. In April, I will turn 35, and in August, I will be married 10 years. Yet, it all feels like yesterday that I met my hubby (I was 17), and then pushed out a couple of kids. And although I think I keep myself looking pretty decent – I work out, I eat very well (minus McDonald’s which I LOVE and don’t deprive myself of), I am mentally quite sane, and the eternal optimist, I do notice the aging process happening. Not in a major full on wrinkle kind of way, rather the “Wow, I’m just not 25 years old anymore” kind of way.

What If You’re Just Feeling…

Lazy and unmotivated!

So far, in 2010, I’ve put on 5 pounds, I haven’t been to the gym once, and I’m feeling kind of lazy and unmotivated. My whole inbox has been flooded with emails about keeping new year’s resolutions, sticking to the plan, and Oprah’s 21 Day Mind Cleanse. I have to tell you ladies, I’m just not there yet. And I’m kinda yuck about it. I wanted to start 2010 off with a bang.

feeling lazy and unmotivated

Maybe it’s cuz the party’s almost over. Although we’re technically still on vacation, my hubby’s brain is back to work and he’s now on his Blackberry non-stop. Weather here has been freezing over the past few days and we’ve been running around with the boys trying to keep them occupied. Boys have been at each other’s throats non stop. Little one threw up Sunday night all over himself and the car rental while on our way to a nice dinner for my mother in law’s birthday. There I was, all dressed up, yellow rubber gloves and sponge, scrubbing away with Mr. Clean and Febreze. Hot! I’m in desperate need of a date night with hubby and a little “me” time.  Sometimes too much of a good thing is just that… too much (mirror mirror on the wall, I’ve become my mother after all!). I think it’s time to go back to Montreal to the minus 25 and snow.
