How Are YOU Going To #MakeItHappenMonday?
About two weeks ago, I was thrilled to announce that I had partnered with Motrin on their latest #MakeItHappenMonday Campaign, and that I was our mission to transform every woman’s “I wish” into “I will.”
“Challenges have the power to lead to new growth that we never expected. I am on a mission to inspire women to step outside of their comfort zones and try something new– and I believe Monday is the perfect day to do just that. This is where you declare to yourself and the world, how YOU are going to make it happen for yourself. To declare intent and set the tone for the rest of the week. To lean into any challenge and Make it Happen every Monday.”
I shared with you a little bit about my journey into meditation, and how after seeing a video by Jerry Seinfeld, I was totally inspired to up my meditation game and dive into Transcendental Meditation, or TM.
It has been an interesting couple of weeks going outside of my comfort zone.
After learning that getting your own TM mantra can be quite costly, I was given a reputable website to find my own personal mantra. I discovered my mantra was KIRING.
I realize that many people understand what regular meditation is, but not TM.
So, What is Transcendental Meditation?
“Transcendental Meditation (TM) is the simplest, most natural and effortless technique of meditation – so simple that the adult technique can be learned from the age of 10.
Using a mantra (or sound) upon which to gently and innocently rest our attention, we simply allow the mind the freedom to follow its natural tendency towards happiness, and it will settle spontaneously into silence.
The resulting peace (sometimes, and increasingly, blissful) allows the body also to gain very deep rest (much deeper than sleep), in which it can dissolve even its deepest stresses accumulated as a result of life’s worst traumas. As we emerge refreshed and revitalised from the silence of meditation, this has the potential to produce sometimes dramatic improvements in any area of our life, as indicated by a vast and ever increasing body of research over the last 45 years. However, for most people, the biggest results come gradually and comfortably over time.” (MeditationTrust.com)
So to let you know how I’ve made out so far, it has honestly been beyond my wildest expectations. I was VERY skeptical. For the past three years, I have meditated almost daily, but not to my own mantra. I have solely used guided meditation or music.
I reported earlier this week how uncomfortable it felt, but this week, I noticed such a huge shift. My sleep has been deeper, I find myself with a greater aura of calm and serenity, and I have completely gotten past the uncomfort of repeating a word in my mind, which at first, I didn’t feel any connection to.
I will definitely continue meditating using my mantra, but will research if I am able to alternate between using my mantra, and incorporating music that I so love and enjoy. It is truly the music that transcends me… always.
For my readers who jumped off the fence with me and joined me to #MakeItHappenMonday, how have the past couple of weeks been for you? I would really love to hear. Share with me on Twitter at @EricaDiamond and below.
