A Hump Day Chuckle

Two little old ladies, Dorace & Jackie were sitting on a park bench outside the local town hall where a flower show was in progress.

The short one, Jackie leaned over and said, ”

Life is so boring. We never have any fun any more. For $10.00 I’d take my clothes off and streak through that stupid, boring flower show!”

“You’re on!” said Dorace, holding up a $10.00 note.

Friendship and The People You Meet

I can count on 5 hands, NOT fingers, how many friends I have. Yes, I thankfully have a lot of nice friends, and they run in many different circles. So much so, that when it’s my birthday, we’re either a gazillion people, or I opt to do absolutely nothing, since I never know where or whom to cut.

Women On The Fence named FORBES TOP 100 WEBSITES FOR WOMEN 2011

Yup! We did it ladies!! Just got word last night.

Women On The Fence was just named THE TOP 100 WEBSITES FOR WOMEN 2011.

I cried. I’ll admit it. All the hard work. All the effort. I poured my heart out, as did my incredible team of guest bloggers. You read with no judgement. I can’t thank you enough for sticking with me.

What an honor to be in the company of such brilliant women. Here is the link to the article… http://www.forbes.com/2011/06/23/100-best-web-sites-for-women-blogs-2011.html

Slow Down

I may not be the sharpest tool in the shed (although I do pride on myself on being somewhat sharp), I can still recognize a sign when it’s flashed my way. And this week, the signs were all around.

This past week, I felt my anxiety level mounting, and I felt myself beginning to vent it onto my children. Shame on me, I hear you. But this is my safe place, so no judgement please. Nothing new had happened, nothing out of the ordinary, just my patience level was wearing thin this week, and instead of enjoying my boys, they were starting to, **GASP** annoy me. The bickering and whining was taking its toll. For those that know me, they know my children are my life. They take first priority. Before sex. Yes.

Wordless Wednesday

Look at the pictures of the moon that this photographer captured.

Today’s “Off The Fence” Topic: Imagination and creativity.

Remember, without imagination and creativity, what is life?

Choose creativity. Choose imagination. Choose passion. Choose to think outside the box. Choose purpose. Choose to be unique.

Teaching Kids About Money

“Hello, Alisa? This is your gut calling.”

You know the feeling that you were meant to do something? When you just feel so infinitely concrete—so sure—that not following through doesn’t exist as an option?

I’ve felt that twice.

A Father’s Day Tribute

Happy Father’s Day to all the dads celebrating this weekend. I already paid tribute to my wonderful father exactly one year ago. Today I would like to honor my husband, the other incredible father in my life.

Happy Father’s Day. Enjoy this…

Our favorite song. 😉

Wisdom Wednesday: Carrots, Eggs and Coffee

A young woman went to her mother and told her about her life and how things were so hard for her. She did not know how she was going to make it and wanted to give up. She was tired of fighting and struggling… it seemed as one problem was solved, a new one arose.

Richard Branson and a Grand Prix Weekend

When you hear the name Richard Branson, what’s the first thing that comes to mind? Money? Power? Success? Philanthropy? Well, yes, all these may be true, but I had the great fortune of sitting down to chat with Sir Richard Branson this weekend, and getting to see a softer side. It was amazing to meet a great visionary who I actually wrote about in my book, 99 Things Women Wish They Knew Before Staring Their Own Business. In fact, I gave him a signed copy to take on the plane! 🙂

Weinergate and Cybercheating

I really wanted to blog about the current events surrounding Congressman Anthony Weiner. Yes, THAT Weiner who showed HIS Wiener on Twitter and then lied about it. But then I reconnected with one of our amazing previous Guest Bloggers, Kiri Blakely, who has been covering all things Weinergate. And I think she did a better job than me.

It’s time to work smarter not harder, end procrastination and own your day… every day!
